Things to remember in growing bonsai trees

Filed under: Arts & Crafts, Gardening, Recreation, Hobbies

There are many species of trees which can be grown as bonsai trees, among them are members of the larch, pine, and maple families. In theory, all trees should be able to be grown as bonsai trees - the only requirement is that you prune them while they are young and control their growth with proper usage of wiring.

Also, feeding and watering of the trees need to be precise and adequate. Contrary to many people’s assumptions, bonsai trees are not genetically modified in any way, neither are they starved so that they remain small. It is the pruning and wiring that makes all the difference.

When it comes to growing bonsai trees, your experience and consequently, success, counts much more than any amount of watering or feeding, or styling. That is why in Japan, master bonsai artists spend years just to achieve their titles and rank, working their way up from an initial ranking of apprentice. Obviously, the art of growing bonsai is much more than simply buying a tree and bringing it home, but this is only if you wish to take your art to a higher level.
