If you were to think of the best first-person shooter that’s available for a console, what would you say it is? Many gamers would say it’s Halo 3 for Xbox. Halo: Combat Evolved was released in 2000 and is considered by many as one of the best first-person shooters that is available for a console. The gamer plays as the character called Master Chief. Although he’s been dubbed by many as the silent warrior he is accompanied by an AI companion who goes by the name Cortana. Through Cortana the gamer learns a lot of background information during game play and she also provides a lot of comedic relief.

Halo: Combat Evolved was released for gamers in 2000. During its release it sold 6.5 million copies and broke entertainment industry records. Four years later in 2004 the highly anticipated Halo 2 was released to gamers all around the world. Halo 2 broke sales records that Halo: Combat Evolved had achieved. Give Bungie Studio’s another 3 years and the highly anticipated; end of the trilogy Halo 3 was released strictly for the Xbox 360. During the first 24 hours of release, Halo 3 broke the records that both Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 had achieved. It sold over $170 million worth of copies within its first 24 hours of release and also become the largest pre-ordered game in history.
