Daytime Emmy Awards

It was decided that daytime shows deserved their own awards ceremony and the first Daytime Emmy Awards show took place in 1974. It soon became an established fixture and an important event for the television networks. Viewers like to see if their favorite soap opera has won and they root for their favorite soap star. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences present the awards and there are several categories for prizes.
The shows have been broadcast from various venues, mostly in New York City. These have included the Radio City Music Hall and Madison Square Garden. They have also taken place in the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.
